THIS PAGE WILL PROVIDE INFORMATION ON ITEMS WHICH MAY BE OF INTEREST TO OUR RESIDENTS - OR TO THOSE WHO MAY BECOME RESIDENTS:

SEASONAL ORDINANCES:

Ordinance 2005-2 requires any person owning a pet to promptly remove, within 48 hours, any feces deposit in the yard.  This is particularly important because of the homes/yards being so close.  Residents should also show courtesy to their neighbors by promptly removing animal feces so that the noxious odor does not ruin their neighbor's outdoor activites or keep them from having open windows in periods of pleasant weather.  Residents may obtain a copy of the complete ordinance by visiting or calling the Borough office.  PLEASE BE AWARE:  During 2011, a Zero Tolerance policy has been adopted by Borough Council.  No warnings will be issued - the penalty in the ordinance will be immeidately enforced for non-compliance.

Odinance 1987-3 prohibits persons from allowing their domestic pets to run at large within the Borough, regardless of whether or not the animal is properly licensed.  This ordinance is also supported by the Pennsylvania Dog Law of 1965 and police officers will enforce the provisions of both the Pennsylvania Dog Law and the Borough Ordinance.  These laws permit the seizure of the animals as well as a fine of up to $300 for violations of these ordinances.  Residents may obtain a copy of the complete ordinance by visiting or calling the Borough office.

Ordinance 1992-1 regulates that grass must be cut to a height of four (4) inches or less and no bush, tree, etc., is permitted to grow over and onto another person's property.   Residents may obtain a copy of the complete ordinance by visiting or calling the Borough office.

Ordinance 1971-2 requires that snow be removed from the sidewalks in front of and/or along side of a property within 24 hours of the snow event.  Residents may obtain a copy of the complete ordinance by visiting or calling the Borough office.

Ordinance 1993-1, which added an amendment to Ordinance 1971-2, prohibits residents from shoveling snow back onto already plowed roads.  Residents may obtain a copy of the complete ordinance by visiting or calling the Borough office.

COMMUNITY ROOM RENTALS:

Borough Council allows for the rental of the community room to any person or group.  Residents of the Borough of Juniata Terrace can rent the room for $15/hour, while those living elsewhere may rent the room for $20/hour.  A variety of events are allowed to be hosted in the community room to include birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers, etc.  Recently, council voted to allow other types of activities to be hosted in the community room.  These would include events such as home parties (Tupperware, Pocketbook, and Jewelry parties).  No event may be scheduled in the community room where alcohol will be consumed. Any activity which may be declared illegal, such as a gambling event, is also prohibited. There are no kitchen facilities present in the community room.  The room is rented on a first come, first serve basis and fills up very quickly. If you are looking for a large room to host a famly event or party, give us a try!  Stop up and check us out - we think you will like what you see.

PARKING:

Parking has always been an issue on Juniata Terrace because it is so limited.  There is no personal parking space issued to residents, including handicapped parking.  Residents may request that the Mayor grant a handicapped parking space in front of their home, but this is not specific to an individual resident.  THE OWNER OF ANY VEHICLE BEARING A HANDICAPPED PLATE OR PARKING PLACARD MAY UTILITZE THE HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE.  Elected officials cannot regulate neighborhood courtesy, but strongly encourage neighbors to act appropriately and take care of each other.  As a reminder, especially to the residents of the first block of Terrace Boulevard, there is overflow parking allowed at the old school building and in the area near Wilson's Meats and Groceries.
